Taylor County Public Library Building Update

Hello, Taylor County Public Library Patrons,

I’d like to share with you the recent events at the library that led to its temporary closure. A couple of weeks ago, staff noticed a leak on the ceiling. Upon closer inspection by a structural engineer, we discovered several broken trusses that should hold the roof up. This information came as a complete surprise to us! The engineer instructed us to close the library immediately for the safety of everyone. He is now drawing up plans to repair the broken trusses. Once those plans are complete, a contractor will make the repairs. We are currently unsure of the time required to complete these repairs. We apologize for the pause in regular service!

While we wait to reopen the library, the Kentucky Career Center graciously offered to share their building with us at 1311 E Broadway Street, Campbellsville, KY 42718, Monday-Friday, 9 AM-4 PM. At this temporary location, patrons can access the following services: computers with internet, fax, copies, lamination, and limited book check-out. Patrons are also welcome to browse books in the Bookmobile. Please visit www.tcplibrary.org/calendar for the complete Bookmobile schedule.

We will keep you updated as soon as we have a clear timeline for when we will reopen the regular library location. In the future, Taylor County Public Library intends to expand our building to meet the Kentucky State requirements for Taylor County, Kentucky’s population size. We will fix our current library first while working with an architect for our future expansion. Thank you for partnering with us during this unexpected time!

Cherita Barlow, Director of Taylor County Public Library
