Lady Tigers cap off inaugural Flag Football Frenzy with big win over Comets
The Lady Tigers faced the Thomas University Night Hawks, Warner University Royals, Webber International University Warriors, Reinhardt University Eagles, and Cottey College Comets in a three-day frenzy of games from Monday through Wednesday for the inaugural Flag Football Frenzy.
GAME ONE: Campbellsville 0, Thomas 25
The Lady Tigers matched up against #2 Thomas University. Despite the Lady Tigers' efforts against the Night Hawks, they lost 25-0.
Going into the game, the Thomas Night Hawks were 3-0 this season with averages of 24 points per game, 4.7 yards per rush, and 4.89 yards per pass.
Throughout the game, Jaycie Harper collected three tackles. Marissa Rankin attempted 11 rushes, gaining 21 yards for the Lady Tigers, and averaging 0.73 yards per rush. Yanelly Quiros received three passes gaining 12 yards for Campbellsville and averaging four yards per pass.
At the end of the game, both Campbellsville and Thomas collected one first down. The Lady Tigers averaged 2.33 yards per play compared to the Night Hawks' 9.85 yards per play. In average yards per pass, Thomas also led by 12.80 yards per rush to Campbellsville's 3.82 yards per pass.
GAME TWO: Campbellsville 0, Warner 20
Following their first game of the night, the Lady Tigers sought to bounce back as they played Warner University.
Going into the game, the Warner Royals have gone 2-1 this season with averages of 31 points per game, two yards per rush, and 8.20 yards per pass.
Throughout the game, Harper collected three tackles. Presley Payne attempted six rushes, gaining 43 yards for the Lady Tigers, and averaging 7.17 yards per rush. Angeline Beecher received two passes gaining ten yards for Campbellsville and averaging five yards per pass.
At the end of the game, Campbellsville collected two first downs compared to Warner's five first downs. The Lady Tigers averaged 5.47 yards per play compared to the Royals' 11.77 yards per play. In average yards per rush, Warner also led by 7.00 yards per rush to Campbellsville's 6.38 yards per rush.
GAME THREE: Campbellsville 0, Webber 27
Starting their second day on the field, the Lady Tigers fell to the Warriors.
Entering the game, the Webber International Warriors had gone 2-2 this season with averages of 23.25 points per game, 2.10 yards per rush, and 6.28 yards per pass.
Throughout the game, Harper pulled through with eight tackles. Payne attempted seven rushes, gaining a total of 71 yards for the Lady Tigers and averaging 10.14 yards per rush, as well as five received passes gaining 26 yards for Campbellsville, averaging 5.20 yards per pass.
At the end of the game, both Campbellsville collected four first downs, compared to Webber with no first downs. The Lady Tigers averaged 6.21 yards per play compared to the Warriors' 8.88 yards per play. In average yards per rush, Campbellsville led with 5.73 yards per rush to Webber's 4.56 yards per rush.
GAME FOUR: Campbellsville 7, Reinhardt 12
Following their first game on their second day of frenzy, the Lady Tigers came close but did not come victorious against the Eagles.
The Reinhardt Eagles were 0-5 on the season and sought to get their first win.
Throughout the game, Rankin collected five tackles. Quiros attempted 11 rushes, gaining 32 yards for the Lady Tigers, and averaging 0.55 yards per rush. For receiving passes, Alexis Thomas received four passes gaining 31 yards for Campbellsville, averaging 7.75 yards per pass.
At the end of the game, Campbellsville collected three first downs, compared to Reinhardt's one first down. The Lady Tigers averaged 4.21 yards per play compared to the Eagles' 5.52 yards per play. In average yards per rush, Reinhardt also led with 2.35 yards per rush to Campbellsville's 1.25 yards per rush.
GAME FIVW: Campbellsville 13, Warner 39
The third and last day of play for the Lady Tigers started with a second loss against the Royals.
Throughout the game, Beecher and Hannah Love both made four tackles each. Rankin attempted eight rushes, gaining 61 yards for the Lady Tigers, and averaging three yards per rush. Payne received five passes gaining 27 yards for Campbellsville and averaging 5.40 yards per pass.
At the end of the game, Campbellsville collected five first downs, compared to Warner's two first downs. The Lady Tigers averaged 5.54 yards per play compared to the Royals' ten yards per play. In average yards per rush, Campbellsville led with 3.22 yards per rush to Warner's 0.50 yards per rush.
GAME SIX: Campbellsville 31, Cottey 0
In the last game of the day, the Lady Tigers defeated the Comets to close off their three-day frenzy.
The Cottey Comets were 2-4 for the season.
In Campbellsville's fourth play on their second drive, Payne rushed for a 31-yard touchdown. The Lady Tigers' third drive ended in a 20-yard touchdown from Thomas, passed by Rankin. In the following drives by the Comets, Payne and Love both intercepted Cottey's passes; Payne's interception ended in a 33-yard touchdown. After skillfully avoiding a tackle from the Comets, Harper received a pass from Quiros ending in a 13-yard touchdown. The Lady Tigers took the win, 31-0.
Throughout the game, Harper pulled through with five tackles. Payne attempted five rushes, gaining 62 yards for the Lady Tigers, and averaging 12.40 yards per rush. In receiving passes, Thomas received four passes, gaining 55 yards for Campbellsville, and averaging 13.75 yards per pass.
At the end of the game, Campbellsville collected two first downs, compared to Cottey's three first downs. The Lady Tigers averaged 7.38 yards per play compared to the Comets' 4.27 yards per play. In average yards per rush, Campbellsville also led with 6.60 yards per rush to Cottey's 2.22 yards per rush.
The Lady Tigers will next be found seeking revenge on the road at Reinhardt University March 25th for a doubleheader starting at 11:30 a.m. ET.
