Boyd hits NAIA Standard, two more school records fall at Tom Hathaway Distance Challenge

Campbellsville stacked up points in multiple events at the Tom Hathaway Distance Challenge over the weekend.

Alexia Boyd had a big weekend with her new PR and NAIA B Standard mark of 11.30m in the triple jump. Her mark came on her final attempt in the finals of the event. Boyd came back for a 4.91m distance in the long jump. Alexia Schofield continues to be a standard all around the track and field. She earned runner-up in the long jump with a mark of 5.33m and put herself in a scoring position in the high jump earning 6th at 1.40m.

Jamila Garba led the way in the sprints on Saturday. She earned the bronze medal in the 60m finals with a time of 7.80. Boyd was 5th in the event at 7.86, and Kourtlyn Cannon was 6th at 7.88. Garba turned around in the 200m with a victory of 25.55, with Schofield coming in a close 3rd of 25.80. Cannon rounded out the trio in the event in 8th at 26.82. 

Victoria Young was only .10 seconds away from the win in the 400m. She was on the heels Laila Smith, who ran 1:00.44, while Young was 1:00.54. KaNiya Douglas was 4th overall in 1:02.74. Nina Daman set herself a new PR in the 5,000m run with an 8th-place finish of 19:50.32.

Coming off her first collegiate win, Makiyah Allen placed 6th this week in the 60m hurdles at 9.50, just .02 shy of her collegiate best. 

Rounding out the track events were the distance medley relay and the 4x400m relay. On the distance medley relay team were Christy Shank, Hailey Shank, Emma Steff, and Young. They came close to hitting an NAIA B Standard but were still able to set a school record in the process of 12:45.55. In the 4x400m relay, Douglas, Garba, Schofield, and Young won the event by 11 seconds over a second Campbellsville team of 4:04.96.

Ariana Simmons earned her first scoring points of her career in the pole vault. Simmons placed 8th in the event with a height of 2.15m. Ricquel Williams set her own school record in the shot put with a 3rd place performance of 12.43m. In the weight throw, she improved her placement on the day with a runner-up throw of 15.23m. Brooke Coffman finished inside the top eight with her throw of 12.52m.
