#5 Pioneers defeat #9 Flames
Campbellsville University Harrodsburg defeated the Flames of Welch College 73-69 Saturday.
The fifth ranked Pioneers were led by 25 points from Oriona Woods and 23 points from Jaiden Douthit. The Flames took an early five point lead in the first quarter in a match up that came down to the wire. After a back and forth first half, the Flames would lead by two at the half.
The Flames would take a five point lead with a layup from Faithe Johnstone with 02:38 remaining in the fourth quarter. On the next possession, CUH would cut into the lead with a corner three point field goal from Jaiden Douthit, cutting the deficit to two. After a defensive stop, Douthit would take and hit another three point field goal to retake the lead for the Pioneers, 70-69. Free throws from Cunningham and a late basket from Oriona Woods would secure the 73-69 victory for the Pioneers in a thriller.
The Pioneers return to the court Thursday on the road at Pensacola Christian College.
