Shooting woes down Tigers against Saints

The Tigers traveled to Crestview Hills to compete against the #2 Thomas More Saints. Campbellsville put up a valiant effort, but could not gain the upper hand as they couldn't keep up with Thomas More's efficiency and fell, 70-62.

Campbellsville could not escape Thomas More as they went back and forth with baskets. The Tigers rattled an eight-point run with buckets from Keaston Brown, Jay Milburn, Jordan Graham, and Javaughn Smith to tie the game at 14. Wallace's and-one would gain the Tigers their first lead of the game. However, Thomas More went on an uninterrupted, nine-point run to place Campbellsville at a discrepancy again. Wallace went for a deep three that found the bottom of the net and set the Tigers trailing at the half, 33-26.

Both teams had accumulated 12 buckets apiece, but Thomas More had the upper hand due to five of those baskets coming from the arc, whereas Campbellsville only secured one shot from deep. The Saints were moving the ball around the court more too, with seven assists compared to the Tigers' one. Wallace had nearly half of the Tigers' points with 12.

The Saints jumped out early in the second half with a three-point basket. This effort from Thomas More did not discourage the Tigers from making offensive advances. Muhammad added a few layups to inch Campbellsville closer to the lead. The Tigers had the Saints off balance as they began to miss their shots from the arc. It was a short hitch as Campbellsville suffered a double-digit discrepancy. As under three minutes of play remained, the Tigers trailed by four. That would be as close as they came as Campbellsville could not recover from Thomas More's great shooting and dropped the contest 70-62.

The Tigers fell short with a 41.5 field goals percentage compared to the Saints' 50 percent. Thomas More displayed strength from the three-point line with nine shots falling from the area (52.9%), whereas Campbellsville collected three buckets from the arc (14.3%). Wallace led with 21 points and six rebounds, while Muhammad trailed closely with 17 points and four rebounds.

The Tigers will return to the court this Saturday, January 7th. Campbellsville will match-up against Wilberforce University at Powell Athletic Center following the women's game. Tip-off begins at 3 p.m. ET.
