Wilks' career-high and double-double lead Campbellsville over the Bobcats 83-63

Kaitlynn Wilks led the third-ranked Lady Tigers with a new career-high and second career double-double to an 83-63 win.  

In the game's early stages, Campbellsville had their hands full in the first quarter going into the first media timeout with a 9-6 lead. Connieya Bradford had all six of St. Thomas' points in the early going. With 3:01 left to play in the first quarter, St. Thomas gained their first lead of the afternoon of 11-10. At the end of the first quarter, the Bobcats had a 17-13 lead. Wilks led all scorers with seven points, while Lauren Lee grabbed three rebounds for the Tigers.

At the end of the first quarter and heading into the second quarter, Campbellsville went nearly three minutes without scoring a basket. Wilks hit a much needed three-point basket for the Lady Tigers to tie the game back up at 21-21 with 7:00 left to go in the second quarter. Wilks nearly had a double double going into the locker room with 13 points and seven rebounds. In the final 19 seconds of the first half, Elizabeth Bertram and Courtney Pritchett regained the lead of the game of 34-31, with the duo hitting a three-point basket to end the half. The Bobcats had a 22-18 rebound advantage and led 20-12 for points in the paint. 

Starting out the second half, Campbellsville was able to jump to a 38-33 lead at the 8:16 mark in the third. The physical play continued between the Bobcats and Lady Tigers throughout the period. Campbellsville was able to go on a 14-0 run with 3:10 left in the third to gain a 57-43 lead. Sarah Sutton made herself known in the game in the third quarter, hitting four three-point baskets and scoring 14 points total in the quarter to push the lead 65-50.

Starting the fourth quarter, Wilks earned her second career double double with her 10th rebound of the game. Campbellsville continued their second-half dominance throughout the fourth quarter, jumping to a 77-55 after the game's final media timeout. 

Lee was close to a triple-double on the afternoon. Lee finished with 13 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists. Wilks finished with 24 points and ten rebounds, Bertram had 17 points, and Sutton hit four three's and finished with 14 points.

Campbellsville shot 44.4% from the field and 43.3% from beyond the arc. Lady Tigers were able to beat the Bobcats 34-19 off bench points. The nation's leading team in assists were able to dish out 23 on the day. 

The team will now travel to the top-ranked team in the nation at Thomas More University on Thursday, January 5th, for a 5:30 p.m. matchup in Crestview Hills, KY.
