Kennedy Reaches Milestone, Pioneers Fall To Asbury 91-75
Campbellsville University Harrodsburg fell to the fifth ranked Asbury Eagles on Tuesday night in Wilmore, 91-75.
It was a career night for Keelan Kennedy, as Kennedy joined the 1,000 point club. A former member of the CU Somerset program where he scored 808 points, Kennedy entered Tuesday's contest 12 points shy of the milestone. He would reach the 1,000 point mark late in the second half with a basket that gave him 1,000, and a free throw to seal a 13 point and five rebound performance.
Kereion Douglas led the Pioneers with 17 points, five rebounds and two assists. Chris Rawlins added 12 points and seven rebounds. Warner Bryan added eight points and six rebounds, Ethan Jones added three points to round out the starting unit.
The Pioneers would find some offensive assistance from the bench as Tyrese Duncan added nine points. Jahnoi Lee (5 pts) and Nakyir Joyce (4 pts) found timely baskets that gave a spark, particularly in the first half. The Pioneers would be tied up at the half at 44-44.
The Eagles would outscore CU Harrodsburg 47-31 in the second half that extended the lead for Asbury. Turnovers proved to be costly, as Asbury would convert 12 Pioneer turnovers into 13 points. CU Harrodsburg also struggled beyond three point range, shooting 6-24 from long distance.
