Every Pioneer PR's in First National Tournament Appearance, Brown Finishes Career with PR

The Campbellsville University Harrodsburg Cross Country Pioneers finished their season at the 2022 NCCAA National Tournament in Joplin, MO. It was the first national tournament appearance for the men's cross country program, marking an incredible jump in the program during the 2022 campaign.

The Pioneers finished 8th overall with a CU Harrodsburg record time in the 8K with an overall team time of 2:40:34.

Every runner finished with a new personal record time in the 8K in the process.

Hunter Ellis accomplished a PR time of 30:40.0, setting a record time for the program. Roman Gonsalves was right behind Ellis with a new PR time of 31:26.9. Jayden Gonsalves finished at 32:31.8 and Daniel Pence finished at 32:33.9, both personal records.

Senior Pioneer Micah Brown finished at 33:21.5, a PR in the 8K in his final run with the Pioneers.

Brown was the first signee for the program in 2019 and became the first runner in men's cross country at CU Harrodsburg. He will also become the first graduate for the program this year.

"Coaching MIcah Brown has been one of my greatest honors," said coach Seth Hardwick. "Micah has seen this program at the ground level and to see us finish this season being nationally ranked with a trip to nationals, what a story to tell he will have."

The 2022 campaign was the first season under coach Seth Hardwick, it was a campaign Hardwick hopes to build from.

"This group handled all adversity with grace and a positive attitude. The improvement from August until now is astonishing. With our young core, I cannot wait to see what is ahead of us and this program in the seasons to come," said Hardwick.
