Pioneers Rally To Defeat Simmons 81-80 in Thriller
Oriona Woods would lead the Pioneers to a thrilling 81-80 victory over Mideast member Simmons College Tuesday. Woods' 41 points and 14 rebounds would lead all scorers, shooting 11-23 from the field and 3-5 from three point territory. Woods would also knock down 16-21 free throw attempts.
Jaiden Douthit would follow with 19 points and seven rebounds.
Simmons would lead early over CUH, outscoring the Pioneers 29-17 in the opening quarter. CUH struggled to control the ball as they turned the ball over 26 times leading to 33 Simmons points. Simmons would lead by as many as 17 in the Tuesday evening matchup. The Pioneers would storm back in the second half, continuing to get to the free throw line and finding both open and contested routes to the basket to find their way back.
The Pioneers would find baskets from Woods and free throw attempts from Douthit, Smith and Woods to take the lead in the final minute of the fourth quarter.
The Pioneers return to the court Thursday, November 17th against Brescia at the Campbellsville University Harrodsburg Athletic Facility at 3 p.m.
